Despite much speculation around his Liverpool future, Arne Slot appears to have done enough to keep his place in the Anfield dugout for the time being.Fans are tired of Slot amid what has been a nightmare season that’s set to end with no trophies and, at best, a place in next season’s Champions League. But with a report from Sky now saying that Slot will stay at Liverpool going into 2026/27, the Dutchman has three clear transfer priorities he must address in the market. Are Liverpool making the right call by sticking with Arne Slot? 🤔 What does he need to do to get the fans and players back on side?Credit: Stuart Franklin/UEFA/Getty Images Liverpool need two wingers and a midfielderThe most obvious transfer move Liverpool will need to make in the summer is replacing Mohamed Salah.Salah will leave for free at the end of 2025/26, meaning the Reds’ right flank will be especially weak.On that front, Yan Diomande continues to be linked and is probably the best available option to bring in.Michael Olise would have been the dream, but it doesn’t seem like Bayern Munich want to part with the Frenchman.Sticking with the forward line, it has become clear that, barring teenage star Rio Ngumoha, Liverpool don’t have a left-winger who suits Slot’s style.Cody Gakpo is too slow, and his insistence on cutting inside is infuriating.

In turn, it’s become obvious that a senior replacement for the pacey Luis Diaz needs to be signed in the summer.Further back, the Merseyside outfit are lacking quality depth in the middle of the park.Wataru Endo is currently injured, but he hardly played in the Premier League when he was fit anyway.Curtis Jones fared well at right-back against Everton at the weekend, but he’s not been amazing when covering for Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister this season.Even said duo haven’t looked 100% all term, with the need for a proper defensive-minded number six growing.Elsewhere, though less of a priority, it may be worth Liverpool looking at a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk, who is out of contract in 2027, as well as a new left-back to replace Andy Robertson.Kostas Tsimikas can probably be a decent back-up to Milos Kerkez once his loan ends, but he could be upgraded if the funds are there.Join Our NewsletterReceive a digest of our best Liverpool content each week direct to your mailbox
