Liverpool’s squad is undergoing another overhaul this summer, with a few key players expected to leave. After previous suggestions that he could extend his contract, Ibrahima Konate is moving to Real Madrid.Elsewhere, we have known for a while that Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah are not signing new deals at Anfield, meaning they will be free agents from the beginning of July.Salah’s exit is obviously going to be a big miss, but Dominik Szoboszlai has now suggested that the departing Reds winger is actually better than another of the club’s icons, Steven Gerrard. CLARY/AFP/Getty Images Dominik Szoboszlai rated Mohamed Salah higher than Steven GerrardIn a recent TikTok with Red Bull Hungary, the versatile Liverpool midfielder was asked to rank a number of players from 1-10.The randomly selected list saw Cristiano Ronaldo placed as Szoboszlai’s number one choice, with former Hungary attacker Ferenc Puskas taking second place.Salah was then ranked third by his soon-to-be former teammate, with Gerrard fourth. The ex-Liverpool midfielder was one place above Neymar in Szoboszlai’s list, with Erling Haaland ranked sixth.Whether fans agree that Salah is better than Gerrard is hard to say. The Englishman played such a key role in the Reds’ success in Europe but was unable to guide them to a Premier League title.Salah, on the other hand, won two leagues during his time at Anfield, and it is probably fair to say he carried Arne Slot’s squad to first place in 2024/25.However, unlike the Egyptian, Gerrard spent essentially all of his career on the books of Liverpool despite receiving offers from the likes of Chelsea earlier in his playing days.Regardless, there can be no denying that Salah is an all-time great and replacing the 33-year-old will not be easy.On that front, Liverpool look to be ahead of PSG for Yan Diomande, who is currently away competing at the World Cup with the Ivory Coast.Join Our NewsletterReceive a digest of our best Liverpool content each week direct to your mailbox
