Image Credits: Imago ImagesLiverpool’s end-of-season transition is well underway, and while much of the focus remains on incoming transfers, the club’s academy is also experiencing its share of farewells.With the summer scholarship decision period fast approaching, a make-or-break moment for young players at U14-U16 level, it is inevitable that some promising talents will be departing Anfield.One of those is Goodwin Ike, a goalkeeper who has spent the entirety of his formative footballing years within the Liverpool academy system.



The 15-year-old took to Instagram to share an emotional farewell message after seven years with the club:“After 7 years at Liverpool Football Club, I must announce my time at the best football club in the world is coming to an end.”“These past 7 years Liverpool has been at the very centre of my life and it has been such an honour and privilege to represent the club over the years.“I have made priceless memories, learnt valuable lessons and have played with teammates that have turned into my brothers for life. I would like to thank all the staff within the academy that have helped me throughout my journey, I would like to wish my teammates the best of luck for the seasons ahead.”“Thank you Liverpool for everything, will forever remain the biggest part of my heart.

YNWA.”Ike joined the club in 2020 as U9, having likely joined Liverpool’s preliminary/pre-Academy programme in 2019 before officially signing in 2020.Trent Alexander-Arnold actually surprised Ike and 22 youngsters on the day they joined the club, answered their questions, and signed individual LFC shirts for each of them.Meanwhile, Ike was not the only academy prospect to leave the club in recent days, with fellow goalkeeper Miles Lewis also revealing that he also will end his time at the Anfield club after eight years in the youth system.
