Liverpool have installed a permanent tribute to Diogo Jota outside Anfield. Friday marks the one-year anniversary of Jota’s untimely passing as well as that of his brother Andre Silva from a road accident in northern Spain.
The tribute to the pair incorporates a flowing heart design in memory of the Portugal international’s trademark celebration incorporated in the centrepiece. Lyrics of Jota’s famous chant which Reds supporters continue to use to pay homage in the 20th minute of games since his tragic passing.
A single flower placed in tribute by a fan at the time of the brothers’ passing has also been cast in bronze, making it a lasting physical presence. A PlayStation controller also sits on the plinth as a metaphor for Jota’s love of gaming, and his signature celebration pose.
