Curtis Jones’ Liverpool future seems uncertain, even if there remains a sense that he will get his wish to move to Inter Milan before the summer window closes. The Scouse midfielder has made it clear, either through his repeated liking of Inter-related posts on Instagram or repeated links to the Serie A club, that he wants to leave Liverpool.
Liverpool are reportedly unlikely to replace Jones if he leaves, which I have already said is a massive risk, but there seems to be a lot of risk-taking in the club’s transfer approach this summer anyhow. Today, claims from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness, state that Jones is Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu’s “ultimate transfer wish.” He has been told that Inter will make a “new, decisive offer” for Jones soon, which will hopefully bring this particular transfer saga to a close.
Liverpool have accepted that Jones will leave The Reds, for their part, are willing to let Jones leave and have accepted this. Andoni Iraola already hinted at Jones future When asked about why Curtis Jones was excluded from Liverpool’s two friendlies against Como on Sunday, Andoni Iraola said that it was because of an injury, but this late into the transfer saga, that seems like the typical reason clubs trot out.
