Learn moreRB Leipzig's managing director Marcel Schafer has dismissed claims Liverpool transfer target Yan Diomande will leave this summer. And the Leipzig chief has indicated the club will look to extend the 19-year-old's contract at the Red Bull Arena as a reward for the enormous progress made since joining from Leganes last year.Earlier this month, Liverpool communicated their willingness to bid up to £86m for the Ivory Coast international after an impressive year in Leipzig where he scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga. However, it was reported on Sunday evening that Diomande prefers a move to European champions Paris Saint-Germain and Leipzig are determined to keep the winger and would be looking for something much closer to £112m if they are to reluctantly sell the teenager. In quotes given to German publication Bild on Monday, Schafer has insisted Leipzig want to keep hold of Diomande and explained how talks over a new contract are desired with his Roc Nation Sports agency.“Our clear intention is: Yan Diomande will play for RB Leipzig next year," Schafer said.
"In principle, we still have a four-year contract and hold all the cards. "And if we can’t find a solution, then we can’t - but he’ll still have a four-year contract.
So, to reiterate: Yan Diomande will remain a Leipzig player."Liverpool are also assessing a potential move for PSG's Bradley Barcola as an alternative to Diomande.FOLLOW OUR LIVERPOOL FC FACEBOOK PAGE!
