(Credit: Imago) Mon 9 March 2026 15:26, UK Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Angel Gomes is reluctant to move to Molineux permanently if they suffer relegation to the Championship, sources have told Football Insider. The Black Country outfit hold the option to buy the 25-year-old at the end of his loan spell, but the player himself would only be happy to see that happen if Rob Edwards’ side remained in the Premier League. Wolves are keen to keep hold of the four-cap England international beyond the end of the season, but they may be forced to turn their attention elsewhere to get their summer reinforcements.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES Gomes has since started four times for Wolves in the Premier League, including in their surprise win over Liverpool on 3 March, which saw them cut the gap to now stand at 12 points adrift of safety.

Their option to buy him as part of the initial agreement is relatively cheap at around the £6million mark, according to Ben Jacobs, but it will be difficult to trigger that if the player himself is not keen.Hugo Bueno’s agent pushing for Molineux exitFormer Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that talk of Hugo Bueno potentially joining Newcastle has stemmed from his agent. The left-back has been strongly linked with a switch to St James’ Park of late, but Brown is adamant that his agent will have put in a call to the Tynesiders, rather than them approaching him or placing him high up on their shortlist. He added that several clubs are likely to be looking at Wolves’ squad to see how they can exploit their recent struggles, while agents could push for exits for the likes of Bueno.
