Liverpool FC NewsFeaturesLiverpool FCLiverpool has certainly not lived up to expectations this season, but one supercomputer has not fared well in any of the predictions it made before the start of the campaignPredictions for the 2025/26 season have proven to be far off(Image: Getty Images)Liverpool’s poor season has made quite a few pundits look silly after the Reds were widely tipped to make it back-to-back titles.Having spent over $600 million during a record-breaking summer window, which included the additions of the likes of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, Liverpool was backed by many to make it back-to-back titles. The reality turned out to be very different though, with Arne Slot’s side failing to live up to expectations as their title defense ended before it had barely started. Indeed, with just one game to go, the Reds are yet to even secure Champions League qualification, with the possibility of a nervy final day in store against Brentford.READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news and rumors today LIVE: Guardiola exit, Diomande decision, Camara moveREAD MORE: What Jurgen Klopp said about Liverpool return as Mohamed Salah piles pressure on Arne SlotIt’s not just the pundits that got it wrong though, with Opta’s supercomputer getting in the neck from supporters as they look back on how it predicted the final table would look all the way back in the summer.Amazingly, the AI-powered model looks set to get every single position in the table wrong.

In fact, Sunderland has massively overperformed considering what had been predicted for it, with the Black Cats finishing 11 places higher after being backed to finish bottom of the pile.Liverpool.com says: To be fair to Opta, this has been the most open season in recent years, and few could have predicted just how well or poorly some sides would have fared.Liverpool was tipped by so many to land the title, which demonstrates just how badly things have gone this season.
Still, that prediction is looking decent compared to some of the others.Choose Liverpool.com as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.Liverpool FCPremier League
