Liverpool’s preparations for Sunday’s mammoth clash against Manchester City are well underway, with the Reds returning to training on Thursday.There was good news and bad news for Liverpool fans, with the disappointment of not seeing Alexander Isak or Cody Gakpo out on the pitches countered by the relief that Jeremy Jacquet trained as normal.Meanwhile, it was nice to see the Liverpool squad back together and enjoying each other’s company after the longest mid-season international break since the World Cup of 2022. Sadly for Freddie Woodman, though, his return drew a little too much attention from Virgil van Dijk, who could not believe the goalkeeper’s new haircut.

It certainly caught the eye of Van Dijk, who likened him to Toy Story villain Sid.“What are you thinking?!” the Liverpool captain said to Woodman, who protested that he felt he looked smart.“You know the guy from Toy Story, Sid,” Van Dijk continued, before repeating the name to the LFCTV cameras as he walked away.READ MORE: Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak may have joined Liverpool training after the cameras stopped rolling on ThursdayThat was not the end of the ribbing for Woodman, however, with Van Dijk picking things back up as the rest of the Liverpool players underwent a gym session.“Did you ask Joey what he thinks about it?” the centre-back asked, leading Woodman over to Joe Gomez.“I thought it was going to be a good response,” the goalkeeper said. “That it took two years off my life,” Woodman responded, with Van Dijk interjecting to confirm that he did in fact look younger.“Do you think I should get a fade?” Woodman then queried.“You have to be careful, otherwise the hair doesn’t come back!” Van Dijk laughed, with the third-choice keeper left in no doubt about his captain’s opinion.
