Amid the joy of a dramatic Merseyside Derby win on Sunday, Liverpool supporters were left pondering what was another disappointing outing from Alexander Isak. The Reds’ record signing had just nine touches against Everton, following on from the five he managed during 45 minutes in the Champions League on Tuesday. But as Isak continues to look disconnected from the team around him, do Liverpool fans need to worry about their No. Two of the greats came up with the heroics against Everton, but nothing lasts forever… ☹️ Photo by Gareth Copley/Getty Images Isak still yet to turn in one effective Liverpool performanceIt is understandable that some supporters will be more than a little concerned by what they have seen from Isak since September. The £125m man has now made 20 appearances for Liverpool, but has scored only three times.Though he has started only seven Premier League matches, and plenty of his outings have come in dribs and drabs, there is yet to be a single convincing full display from Isak. The three goals were all very well taken, but they were just moments.

What ONE word sums up Liverpool’s signing of Alexander Isak?
As much as it is frustrating that Isak has not been able to get fully up to speed, with some of that potentially his own doing, it really is the biggest factor in all of this. With Liverpool out of form and Isak struggling to string consecutive starts together, it is no wonder that things have looked clunky and poor. There is a slight concern that after Sweden qualified for the World Cup, Isak will not be able to get the full pre-season that he so clearly needs. But that can hopefully serve as a way for him to get his eye back in before he returns to Liverpool for what will no doubt be a better campaign.Everyone hoped for more from Isak’s Liverpool career so far, but these are still early days, and as long as the Reds plan next season around playing to his strengths, this will still be a successful signing.
