Alisson absent from Liverpool’s UCL squad

Alisson has been ruled out of Liverpool’s Champions League clash at Galatasaray. The Brazil international initially took part in training on Monday morning ahead of Arne Slot’s side flying out to Istanbul for the first leg of their last-16 encounter.

But he was a notable omission from the Reds’ 21-man travelling squad for the clash in Turkey after experiencing some discomfort towards the end of the session. Although the extent of the problem is yet to be revealed, the Reds took the decision not to risk Alisson for their upcoming tie given a documented history of injury woes.

Academy stopper Kornel Misciur has also been named in the squad for the second time, having last been called up for the league phase tie away to Eintracht Frankfurt. Young midfielder Trey Nyoni has been included in the squad despite missing Monday’s session owing to his role in the under-21s win over Wolves on Sunday.
