Fofana would suit LiverpoolOne thing which could prove to be a spanner in the works here is that Fofana is generally a left-sided winger. Having spent so much on Barcola, and with Rio Ngumoha, Victor Munoz and Cody Gakpo all preferring the left, that might make this a non-starter.Photo by Jean Catuffe/Getty ImagesHowever, Fofana has on occasion appeared on the right for Lyon, and given his qualities – speed, dribbling and beating his defender one-v-one – he could easily become an option there for Liverpool.Andoni Iraola wants his wingers to be multi-faceted, and as a result they are unlikely to be looking for an exclusively right-sided player.Fofana is young enough to adapt, and given the prices Liverpool are being quoted for the likes of Minteh and Sarr, he would represent much less of a gamble.
With the Reds spending so much on Barcola, it is easy to see why that would appeal. There are no rumblings of anything moving in regards to Liverpool so far, but this could certainly be one to keep an eye on in the final days of the window.
