Cody Gakpo has been linked with a move away from Liverpool recently, and a new update has now emerged courtesy of reliable journalist Ben Jacobs. A Liverpool exit for Gakpo has been mooted of late, with some reports stating that he wants to leave the club in order for a fresh challenge.

But writing on X on Saturday evening, Jacobs claimed that the 27-year-old has not said that at all, which isn’t to say that he will definitely remain with the Reds this summer, while also pouring cold water on a shock Mohamed Salah stay: “Cody Gakpo hasn’t told Liverpool directly he wants to leave. Liverpool also have no plans to keep Mo Salah despite comments from Egyptian goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy that ‘things could change.'” Should Liverpool look to keep Cody Gakpo this summer?

Gakpo is a divisive figure among Liverpool supporters, especially after his performances last season, with some feeling he is one-dimension, cutting inside and shooting at will but not offering enough in his all-round game. Andoni Iraola will no doubt have his own thoughts on Gakpo and whether he sees a future for him at Anfield, and in truth, both outcomes would be fine for Liverpool.
