Rute Cardoso, the widow of the late Diogo Jota, has paid another poignant public tribute to the Liverpool No .20. Image Credits: Imago Images Rute Cardoso has paid another poignant public tribute to her late husband, Diogo Jota, by running a Father’s Day race in Porto wearing his iconic No.20.
Cardoso took part with the number 20 pinned to her chest, the same number Jota wore for much of his career, including at Liverpool, where the club has since retired the shirt in his honour. This is not the first time Cardoso has chosen running as a way to remember Jota.
In December 2025 she completed the São Silvestre do Porto, a 10km race, again wearing the No.20 and marking the achievement with the phrase “20+10”, combining his shirt number with the distance she covered. Cardoso also recently spent time in Thailand with her three children, where she celebrated the third birthday of her youngest son, Duarte.
